  • More than 75% of the population of the Autonomous Regions live in extreme poverty.

  • As much as 80% of one's income goes towards the purchase of food.

  • Mango is accessed only by a 4hr boat ride downriver from Tortuguero, which is a 12hr drive from Managua.

  • Mango has no electricity or running water.

  • Mango's school only goes to grade 6.

  • Mango has no health centre.

The mission that Amparo longs to share with you is simple. As you join us in serving the lives of families in Mango, you are helping share God’s love and the message of the gospel—bringing hope to people in both practical and spiritual ways.

In Mango, we run a bible school program the final week of each month. Currently, there are 172 kids registered, with many of them walking 1-3 hours just to come. Mayra Flores initially started the school almost 8 years ago and she continues to direct the program today.

We're grateful to also have teams of Nicaraguan volunteers from Managua that are passionate to serve. In addition to the school, we are initiating a water filter program, we provide food, clothes, medical assistance when needed and have community movie nights!
